Today in class we completed our paper sculptures. Make sure you have included a title and your name on the bottom of your base. Review the rubric before you turn in on Monday for critique. We also completed a written reflection on the project that will be counted for a grade. If you were absent or did not complete it, you can find it here:
Our Friday video explores sculptures from around the world. If you were absent or just need to review, watch it here: Today we will continue to work on our paper sculptures. Make sure you are working from a plan in your sketchbook. Remember that you need to think about the space for this sculpture and the reason you chose the shapes and forms you are using. Refer to the examples in class if you are confused about how you can attach your pieces together.
Today in class we started the study of FORM. We will be practicing ways to fold and shape paper to create 3D forms. Today is experimentation day, keep trying different attachment methods to prepare for a paper sculpture that we will complete this week.
We are outside today chalking a cityscape for homecoming! Meet in class and we will walk out together.
Remember that you have a sketch due Monday-sports themed in honor of homecoming! It can be equipment, players, jersey, etc. TAKE YOUR TIME!! It should look like at least an hour was spent on the drawing! It's homecoming week and we are doing themed warm ups every day! Today is Pajama Day so for our sketch warm up we designed our dream pjs. You could pick to draw the entire set of pajamas or a square of the fabric.
Sketchbooks were due today. If you did not turn in your sketchbook do so ASAP! Friday we will be chalking out by the football field so dress accordingly and bring a towel or something to put under your knees for comfort. Our theme is about homecoming-"City of Lights" This week in class we are continuing our study of the element of space. We have been practicing drawing rooms and objects using one point perspective. You should have the following completed:
Remember to check synergy. Turn in any project or assignment that you are missing. Some points are better than no points!! It is your responsibility to check and see that you have turned in every assignment. Today in class we will finish our abstract paintings. Remember to take note of your craftsmanship and overall presentation. For our Friday inspiration today we will learn about how art can transform entire cities. If you were absent today, please take a few minutes to watch the story here: We have been exploring space and how artists layout their compositions. We discussed the rule of thirds and symmetrical balance. If you need to review the rule of thirds check out this video: Our first space project is an abstract painting based on a realistic household object. Select a product and zoom in to create a beautiful composition that follows the rule of thirds. Remember it should not be a realistic interpretation of the object but rather a strong design that focuses on line, shape, pattern, etc. and has a strong layout.
