I can't believe we have come to the last day of the semester. I have enjoyed our time together SO much, I just wish that we could have spent these last few weeks in the pottery studio, making things together. I hope you all stay safe and well over the summer. To the Seniors, I hope to see you at Graduation, whenever that may be and I wish you all the best as you move on from High School. You are welcome in the art room anytime. To the rest of you, I hope to see you next year! And to all of you that have work at school let me know if you want to meet up when the building is reopened to pick it up. For our last video we are just going to watch the Senior Edition of WCTV in case any of you missed it. Keep in touch!

This is a quick look at another clay mural installation. It shows the wide range of art that ceramics makes possible. Continuing with artistic creations, today we look at the work of Disney Artist Mary Blair (designer of small world) and her clay mural in the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. It is one of my most favorite clay tile murals. Pay close attention to the texture she has created on each tile-amazing! As we move into our last week of class we will focus this week on artists that create unique pieces using clay. I hope that you will get a small glimpse of what is possible. We talk a lot about process-how to build or shape a piece of clay. Today's video shifts the focus to the artistic side of creation and what inspires the look of an artist's work. As you watch, think about what your work would or could say to the user. Today's video is short but informative-a way to use the wheel for smooth glaze application. Seniors-I will be at Cap and Gown pick up all day today, I can't wait to see you! Good morning! Today's video is about creating a bowl using a slab and drape mold. We have seen some of this before but this video is a good step by step example. It is May 4th-hope you are off to a great start to your week. Today's video is about throwing lids-an easy skill to learn! I think you will enjoy it. Seniors-don't forget Wednesday is Cap and Gown pick up. Decorate your car!! Yesterday we saw how you could dig and process your own clay. Today you will discover how it is processed commercially. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! For those of you wondering how to dig and process your own clay, this video is for you! I think you will suddenly appreciate the ease of ready to use clay. |
