Today is the last day to work on your abstract painting! We will critique these in class tomorrow!
We started working on one point perspective drawings today in class. Practice an interior space in your sketchbook. Your new sketchbook assignment for this week is to draw a piece of furniture. See the assignment to the right for more details. Plan to spend at least an hour on this drawing! We have had a very busy week in class as we begin the printing process. As you begin inking remember that you will need 3 clean prints (you will display your best for critique, probably Tuesday after break). For grading guidelines see the rubric here:
Friday VideoToday in class we learned about an artist who is responsible for art fraud and forgery. If you were absent check out his story below. It makes you consider What makes art valuable, is it skill or fame? Who is harmed in the crime of art fraud? Are his paintings worth anything? How much is idea worth? Have a wonderful break! Remember the sketch assigned last Monday will be collected the Monday we return.
Today in class we began printing our mini collagraphs using brayers and ink. We began to plan our larger print as well. Remember you should have some planning sketches before you move onto the larger project! Don't forget to bring in cereal boxes or other thin cardboard for this project! Our sketchbook assignment this week is travel sketching! This will be great as we move toward fall break. Check out the assignment details for more informaition.
For our inspiration today we learned about artist Luci Sparrow who creates real life out of felt. Check out this video that explains her art and what it means to those who experience it. In class we continued our exploration of Collagraphs. If you need a review of the process check out this clip: Reminders:
You are to create a mini collagraph print to test the process. Be thinking about the subject matter for your large print . Today in class we continued to work on our texture sample board. We did 10 texture rubbings in our sketchbook as a warm up. You should begin getting your four squares of rubbings ready for your final sample board.
Remember if you are trying to replace a zero in the grade book before progress reports you need to do that TODAY!! You have had plenty of class time to make up any missing work. Today we were introduced to TEXTURE. We will focus on implied and actual texture this week to create a 12 texture sample board.
Our new sketchbook assignment is to draw a realistic crumbled piece of paper. Remember we have been doing things to lead up to this! If you use your skills to create an accurate contour line drawing, then add values and then details you will be amazed at how this will turn out!
Today in class we are finishing up VALUE. Value projects are due at the end of class. It is also Catch Up Friday! If you have any missing grades in the grade book today is the day to finish up incomplete work. Remember any points are better than a zero!! For our Friday inspiration today we learned about an artist who creates art using money. It is a good reminder that there are lots of materials besides pencils and paint! We are continuing on the study of VALUE (the lightness or darkness of a color) |
